Key Takeaways
- Marc had struggled with psoriasis for more than 10 years despite trying elimination diets, topical creams, supplements, high-dose vitamin D, and UVB light therapy.
- His biggest problem wasn’t a lack of effort. He was trying various strategies without knowing whether they actually addressed the imbalances present in his psoriasis healing case.
- Years of conventional and functional lab data became much more useful when we looked at the information together through a different lens.
- Marc’s plan was customized around his individual history and data, addressing a cluster of issues in a specific order.
- As his skin calmed down, he was actually able to reintroduce foods he had avoided for years.
- His improvement was so noticeable that his dermatologist wondered whether he had started a new medication.
- Marc’s story is not a psoriasis protocol to copy. It’s an example of what can become possible when you stop guessing and start asking better questions about your individual case.
What do you do when you’ve had psoriasis for more than 10 years and feel like you’ve tried everything?
That was Marc. He’d experimented with ALL THE THINGS.
He was disciplined about his health, did a ton of research, and genuinely followed through on the things he tried.
Yet the red, flaky, itchy psoriasis on his arms and legs kept hanging on.
Eventually, Marc realized something important: maybe all of that trial and error was keeping him stuck because he was trying to solve problems he didn’t actually have.
In this episode, I’m sharing Marc’s psoriasis healing story, including why more elimination diets weren’t the answer, what changed when we created a plan based on his individual case, and the lesson Marc wishes he’d learned years earlier.
If you’re exhausted from researching what to try next for your psoriasis, Marc’s story may completely change how you think about your next step.

426: His Psoriasis Wouldn’t Go Away After 10+ Years of Trying Everything. Here’s What Finally Changed
Have you ever felt like you’ve tried EVERYTHING for your psoriasis?
You’ve changed your diet. Cut out foods. Bought supplements. Tried creams. Maybe you’ve done light therapy or experimented with natural remedies you found online.
And sometimes, it seems to help.
Until it doesn’t.
That’s exactly where Marc found himself after living with psoriasis for more than 10 years.
He had red, flaky, itchy psoriasis across his arms and legs. And he wasn’t someone who was ignoring his health or waiting around for someone else to fix things for him.
Quite the opposite.
Marc is an incredibly disciplined person. He prioritizes his sleep. He exercises consistently. He researches. He follows through.
Over the years, he tried different elimination diets, topical creams, tons of supplements, high-dose vitamin D, and even UVB light therapy prescribed by his doctor.
The UVB therapy provided some relief, but his dermatologist eventually became concerned about the potential long-term skin cancer risk and asked him to stop.
So Marc went back to researching. And researching. And trying something else. If someone online said a particular diet, supplement, or protocol had helped their psoriasis, Marc was willing to investigate it and give it a real shot.
But after more than a decade, nothing had created the lasting change he was looking for.
And eventually he had to ask himself: If I’m doing everything “right,” why isn’t my skin getting better?
That question ultimately changed the direction of his psoriasis healing journey. Not because he discovered another elimination diet. Not because he found the perfect supplement. And not because he finally uncovered the one psoriasis treatment everyone else had somehow missed.
Marc’s skin began to change when he stopped guessing.

When You’ve Tried Everything For Psoriasis And Nothing Sticks
I think one of the most frustrating parts of chronic skin problems is how easy it is to end up in a cycle of constant experimentation.
You hear that dairy is bad for psoriasis, so you remove dairy. Someone says gluten was their trigger, so gluten goes next. You read about a supplement that supposedly helps inflammation, so you order it. Then someone else swears that a totally different psoriasis diet was the thing that finally cleared their skin.
Before you know it, you’ve spent months, or even years, researching and experimenting.
Marc knew this cycle very well.
He had spent an enormous amount of time reading information about psoriasis, including what other people shared in online forums.
And he wasn’t casually trying things for a week before giving up. He was disciplined. He would research something, test out a new diet or protocol for a significant period of time, evaluate what happened, make adjustments, and then try something else.
Some things seemed to help. Others didn’t. And nothing created the lasting improvement he wanted.
After more than 10 years, Marc was understandably frustrated. He was doing so many of the things that were supposedly “right.”
So why wasn’t his skin responding?

The Problem Wasn’t That Marc Hadn’t Researched Enough
Eventually, something clicked.
Marc realized that his psoriasis case was clearly different from other people’s cases.
The strategies that seemed to help someone else weren’t necessarily going to address what was happening in his body.
That might sound obvious. But when you’re desperate for answers, it’s incredibly easy to fall into the trap of thinking, Maybe I just haven’t found the right thing yet.
Marc had spent years essentially guessing and hoping that each new strategy would finally be the answer.
And there was another important piece to this. He really didn’t want to be on strong medications. He also believed that his psoriasis could be pointing toward something deeper happening beneath the surface, and he wanted to understand what that might be.
He knew that data could be incredibly valuable. In fact, he already had years of it. He had past conventional labs, functional labs, a detailed history of what he’d tried, and information about what had helped and what hadn’t. Plus, he’d noticed patterns in how his body responded when he ate certain things or experimented with different approaches.
Clearly, the problem wasn’t a lack of information.
He just didn’t have the perspective and experience to put all of those pieces together in a meaningful way.
And that’s when Marc found me.
Sometimes You Don’t Need More Data. You Need Someone To Help You Understand It.
Marc booked a one-on-one consultation with me because he wanted someone to go through all of that information with a different perspective.
And I was genuinely curious about his case.
I wanted to know what had happened over those 10+ years:
- What patterns were there?
- What had he already tried?
- What worked temporarily?
- What did absolutely nothing?
- What did his previous labs show?
And perhaps most importantly…What were we missing?
This is something I wish more people with chronic skin issues understood. You can have a folder full of lab results and still not have answers. Data isn’t automatically useful simply because you have it. Someone has to interpret it within the context of you.
Your history, symptoms, patterns, how you responded to things in the past, and all of the other clues may help us understand the bigger picture.
When Marc’s skin eventually began improving, it wasn’t because I gave him another random detox or handed him a new elimination diet.
We used his actual data and built a customized plan around what his case appeared to need.

When Marc’s skin eventually began improving, it wasn’t because I gave him another random detox or handed him a new elimination diet.
We used his actual data and built a customized plan around what his case appeared to need.

His Psoriasis Plan Wasn’t Built Around One “Root Cause”
This is one of the most important parts of Marc’s story.
There wasn’t one magical thing underneath his psoriasis. Instead, we identified a cluster of issues that were unique to him.
His plan was designed to address those imbalances in a very specific order.
And then Marc did what Marc does exceptionally well: He followed the plan.
- He didn’t have to keep spending his evenings researching what to try next.
- He didn’t need to read another forum thread and wonder if he should change everything again.
- He didn’t need to constantly tweak the plan based on what had worked for a stranger online.
- He finally had a roadmap built from his own data.
And that’s when things began to change.
He Started Adding Foods Back In While His Psoriasis Calmed Down
One thing I love about Marc’s story is that his progress didn’t require his diet to become increasingly restrictive.
In fact, the opposite happened.
Marc was able to begin reintroducing foods he’d been avoiding for years while his skin calmed down.
I want to highlight that because there’s a really common assumption in the chronic skin world that healing means removing more and more foods.
If your skin isn’t improving, maybe you haven’t eliminated enough. Maybe there’s still a hidden trigger. Maybe you need to become even stricter. And sometimes dietary changes can absolutely be useful!
But Marc had already tried elimination diets, so more restriction wasn’t the answer he needed. His case required us to look elsewhere.
Keep in mind that this doesn’t mean everyone with psoriasis should immediately reintroduce every food they’ve eliminated.
And it certainly doesn’t mean that Marc’s personalized plan is a template for you.
It means that your next step should be determined by what’s actually happening in your case, not by what someone else’s psoriasis responded to.

Then His Dermatologist Saw His Skin
Eventually, Marc went back to his dermatologist for a skin check. She had seen what his psoriasis looked like before, and his skin now looked dramatically different.
She was shocked by how much clearer it was. In fact, she wondered whether Marc had started another medication without telling her. So Marc explained that he wasn’t using a new psoriasis medication.
His skin had changed while we were working on the issues we’d identified beneath the surface. His dermatologist couldn’t explain exactly what had happened. But she was happy for him.
And I think this moment is important for another reason: It isn’t about proving his dermatologist wrong. It’s not about conventional medicine versus functional medicine. Dermatologists have an incredibly important role in psoriasis care.
But different practitioners can look at the same person through different lenses. My job was to look at the patterns in Marc’s history and data and ask different questions.
And in his particular case, that made a meaningful difference.
Why Didn’t All Those Psoriasis Diets And Supplements Work?
Here’s what I really want you to understand from Marc’s story:
Many of the things he’d previously tried were attempting to fix problems he didn’t have.
That’s why blindly copying someone else’s psoriasis healing plan can become so frustrating.
Imagine that someone online says, “I did XYZ and my psoriasis completely cleared!”
That’s their experience, and it may be completely true! But it doesn’t automatically tell you whether XYZ addresses what’s happening in your body.
This is where people can lose years.
You try one approach.
Nothing.
So you try another.
Maybe you see a little improvement.
Then the psoriasis returns.
So you cut out another food.
Add another supplement.
Run another test.
And you’re constantly gathering more information without necessarily getting closer to an answer. That’s the difference between information and interpretation. Marc already had a ton of information. What he needed was help figuring out which pieces mattered.

What Marc Wishes He’d Done Differently
As we began wrapping up our work together, Marc shared something that has stuck with me.
He wished he’d spent less time guessing and sought knowledgeable help sooner.
Think about that. This is someone who was motivated. Disciplined. Intelligent. Willing to research. Willing to make changes. Willing to stick with those changes long enough to see what happened.
And yet, those strengths also kept him stuck in the cycle longer because he kept believing he could research his way to the answer.
The problem wasn’t that Marc wasn’t capable. He simply didn’t know what he didn’t know.
And sometimes you are so close to your own case that it’s incredibly difficult to see the patterns clearly.
That’s true for psoriasis, and other chronic skin conditions. And, frankly, it’s true for many complicated problems in life.
Sometimes another experienced set of eyes sees something you’ve been staring at for years.
Is There A Natural Psoriasis Treatment That Works For Everyone?
No.
And I think it’s really important to say that clearly. The question “how to heal psoriasis” does not have a simple answer.
Marc’s results do not mean there’s one natural psoriasis treatment that everyone should follow. His plan was based on his specific case history, patterns, labs, and needs.
I’m intentionally not giving you a list of everything we did so you don’t replicate his protocol at home. Because that would miss the entire point of his story.
The lesson isn’t: Do what Marc did.
It’s: Stop assuming that what worked for someone else must be what your body needs.
Your psoriasis may have a very different picture beneath the surface.
And that’s why endlessly collecting protocols from Google, forums, social media, podcasts, or even ChatGPT can eventually become another form of guessing. You don’t necessarily need more things to try. You need to get better at identifying which things are actually relevant to you.

What I Want You To Remember
If you’ve had psoriasis for years and feel frustrated because you’ve tried so many things, I want you to hear this:
The fact that something worked for someone else but didn’t work for you doesn’t mean you failed.
And it doesn’t necessarily mean you weren’t disciplined enough.
Marc was incredibly disciplined and he tried incredibly hard.
What changed wasn’t his willingness to work at this. Instead, it was the quality of the questions being asked about his case.
His psoriasis healing journey began moving in a different direction when we stopped trying to apply generic solutions and started making sense of the information his body had already been giving him.
You don’t need to copy Marc’s plan.
You need a way to start making sense of your picture.
And if you’re exhausted from trying to figure this all out alone, getting knowledgeable help can sometimes save you from spending another year chasing things that were never relevant to your case in the first place.
Your Next Step: Stop Guessing About Your Psoriasis
If Marc’s story sounds painfully familiar, I want to invite you to my free Fix My Skin workshop.
It’s specifically for you if you’ve had psoriasis for years, or even if you’ve been more recently diagnosed, and you’re fed up with trying to decipher why your flares seem so unpredictable.
During the workshop, I’ll walk you through some of the liver and gut connections that may be hiding beneath the surface of chronic skin issues.
You’ll also get three self-quizzes designed to help you look for potential signs of liver detox imbalances, Candida overgrowth, and hidden parasite issues.
And you can bring your questions because these sessions include a live Q&A.
The goal isn’t to give you one more generic psoriasis protocol to try. It’s to help you start asking better questions so you can stop guessing and feel more confident about your next steps.
The Fix My Skin workshop is completely free, but seats for the live sessions are limited.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my psoriasis not getting better even though I’ve changed my diet?
Diet changes can be helpful for some people with psoriasis, but there isn’t one elimination diet that addresses every person’s underlying issues. Marc had already tried multiple elimination diets along with supplements, topical treatments, and other approaches, yet his psoriasis persisted.
His experience is a good reminder that if your skin isn’t responding, doing an even stricter diet may not be the answer. It may be time to look more closely at your individual history, symptoms, patterns, and available data rather than continuing to guess.
Can elimination diets help psoriasis?
Some people may notice changes in their psoriasis after eliminating certain foods, but that doesn’t mean the same diet will work for everyone. In Marc’s case, years of experimenting with elimination diets didn’t create the lasting improvement he was looking for. Interestingly, once his plan was built around his individual data and needs, he was able to reintroduce foods he had avoided for years while his skin calmed down.
What are the root causes of psoriasis?
There isn’t one universal “root cause” that explains every psoriasis case. That’s why I’m cautious about generic lists of psoriasis root causes. Your underlying picture may look very different from someone else’s, and identifying what is actually relevant to you matters.
Can psoriasis heal naturally without medication?
Marc experienced significant improvement in his psoriasis without starting a new psoriasis medication, but his experience should not be interpreted as proof that everyone can or should manage psoriasis without medication. Medication can be an important part of psoriasis treatment for many people.
What is the best natural psoriasis treatment?
There isn’t one natural psoriasis treatment that works for everyone. Supplements, elimination diets, topical products, and other approaches may help some people while doing very little for others.
Why do psoriasis treatments work for some people but not others?
Two people can both have psoriasis while having very different histories, symptoms, patterns, and factors contributing to their overall health picture. That means a strategy that dramatically helps one person may not address what is relevant in another person’s case.
Can functional lab testing help with psoriasis?
Lab data can provide useful information, but simply running more tests doesn’t guarantee that you’ll find the answers you’re looking for. Data still needs meaningful interpretation and context.
How do I stop guessing about what is triggering my psoriasis?
If you constantly jump from one diet, supplement, or protocol to another based on what helped someone else, you can easily end up stuck in trial and error. Start by looking at your own history and patterns rather than assuming another person’s psoriasis solution should also be yours.
Marc ultimately wished he’d spent less time guessing and sought knowledgeable help sooner. Sometimes another experienced perspective can help identify patterns you’ve struggled to see on your own.
